**PHOTO ADVISORY** Sen. Jones honors WWII veteran Bob Corey for 70 years with the American Legion Post 48

LANSING, Mich. Sen. Rick Jones, R-Grand Ledge, on Friday honored Robert “Bob” Corey for 70 years of membership with American Legion Post 48 in Grand Ledge. Corey is a World War II veteran and a Post charter member and post commander.

Corey moved from Wacousta to Grand Ledge at age 11. After graduating from Grand Ledge High School in 1944, Corey served in the U.S. Army in 1945 during World War II, serving mainly in the Philippines, where he was responsible for transporting POWs around Manilla.

After serving in the war, Corey started working at the Loan and Deposit Bank in 1947, where he eventually became vice president of the bank. In 1974, he left the banking business and started working as an insurance agent. He retired in 1996. In addition to the American Legion, Corey was a member of several organizations during his career, including the Grand Ledge Rotary Club and the Grand Ledge Chamber of Commerce. Bob and his wife Gloria married in 1950. They have three daughters, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
